not really
graph drawing is a great way to teach yourself to see
when you only have to look at one square at a time it is less ovewhelming.

Depends on what you're using it for. If you're just making a copy of someone else's image, then yeah that would be like tracing. If you're practicing your drawing skills by studying someone's artwork, then I'd say that's a great way to learn, but what you're drawing is still not your own original artwork. However, I do use graphs a lot myself when I'm going from a sketch to a larger drawing or when I'm using a photograph as a reference for a drawing or painting. It's a really great technique for that kind of thing.

I agree with the first poster. It really is an excellent way to learn how to draw.

If you are using it to copy an image rather than learn from it then it is like tracing except with more variation because you aren't going over the exact or, even, enlarged or shrunken line. If you're really good at it then it pretty much is tracing. You'd do better to let go of the graph and learn to recreate an image without it.

Not really, it's more like copying or drawing something you see. It's a good way to look at individual pieces or the way things are shaped, but I personally hate it! It always comes out looking weird.
