I had surgery and am now takng Lortab. I talked to my pharmacist and did research on the internet, with no help. Basically, it has been proved to cross over to breastmilk, and hasn't been proven safe or dangerous. I am wondering if there are any nursing mothers who did nurse of stopped nursing while taking Lortab. Thanks!

i was extremely paranoid when i took lortab after my csection with my children. i would check in on them just to make sure they were ok. i was breastfeeding so i wasn't afraid that they would be so sluggish while eating and aspirate or anything. it does cross into your milk and your baby does get a small amount of it which makes him so sleepy. so, as long as you are not abusing it, taking too much or with alcohol, don't fret. just keep your eye on your baby, just in case. not too reassuring huh?! =)

I got my wisdom teeth pulled after my baby was born and they gave me lortab. I was breastfeeding and I didn't take them. I wasn't taking the risk. I didn't go through 9 months of pregnancy and 15 hrs of labor to deliver a healthy baby and something happen now.

I actually was in the same situation as you my doctor told me to discontinue breastfeeding my baby until my treatment is finished.
