I nursed my daughter too, but got a normal period after 5 mos, this time no real period, but for the last 2 months, I've had sharp pelvic pain, and every 2 weeks or so I get brownish spotting, my OB says its normal, but I want to know if this is happening to anyone else so I can see how it is normal. No one I know has had this happen to them, plus I still have a clear or whitish discharge daily that has continued since the bleeding stopped after birth. f.y.i.. I am on a progesterone only birth control pill.

I breastfeed my fist daughter till she was 19-20 months. I fell pregnant when she was 1. Miscarried, then wne ton the mini pill. This drove me insane because it made my periods weird. I usually had really light periods that lasted maybe 3-4 days. But on the mini pill I was bleeding most of the time. So I stopped and fell pregnant when she was about 15 months.
Then my second I didnt get a period till she was 18 months. She breastfed for 2 and a half years.
Enjoy it while it lasts.

I didn't get my period back until I weaned my daughter at 13 months. I had only been nursing her once a day for about 2 months, and it wasn't until I completely stopped that it came back. My best friend is taking that progrsterone birth control for nursing moms, and it actually has caused her to bleed all the time. She bleeds for about a weeks, and then stops for a couple days, and then bleeds again. Consider yourself lucky. :)

It may be because of your birth control. I have an IUD in, and my periods are the same way. Depending where the pains are, you should ask your doctor. My birth control stopped new eggs from growing in when I ovulated, and water getting into the holes in my ovaries were what caused them.

I got my period back just after my son's first birthday. What heaven, all those months without it! This return co-incided with a big reduction in nursing, when I went back to work. Darnit, if I'd realized THAT would happen, I would've pumped! ;) Now, mine returned totally, right away, and regular for two months, but this third one is taking its time.

I think that what you're describing is normal. But if you're worried, go back and talk with your ob/gyn for reassurance..

what you are having is normal as long as the discharge is not smelling badly ,if it does smell badly it might be sign of infection.as per your mentrual period it is normal if you did exclusive breastfeeding for your baby because of the hormone that secret during frequent breastfeeding it may inhibit your menstrual cycle plus the pills you are on.all the same your situation may not be same with other women but it is normal.if you have further question feel free to get in contact as am a gynecologist.
