If the motors came out of the same year it sould only need new motor mounts the 700R4 should bolt up and the ecu for the 7.4 all the wireing may need replacing that connects to the motor. I'm sure its been done but the only thing is i dont anyone that does it because i live in CA and Smog here is a pain to get by with that big of a jump in motor size to pass smog for a smaller 5.7

Easy! If you have both vehicles there, just change everything thats different. I doubt there is a specific step by step manual, but don't be suprised if everything is different. Harnesses, transmision, differential, anything that serves a mechanical or electrical purpose. Don't throw away anything until you have it totally finished and have test driven it. COMPARE EVERYTHING!!! You may find that the most unrelated part may affect your install.

Trust me I've done this type of thing before. My little Colt has the 2.0 DOHC and 5 speed from my Eclipse, and my Eclipse has the fuel injected V-8, 4X4 chasis, and 35"x12"tires from my Dodge Ram. Both are a pleasure to drive and own, and everything works.

ECU won't work...you'll have to get a new one, or the one that came with the 7.4. Also, you'll need a TH400 trans(non-overdrive). Then again, maybe you can keep your old trans, as long as it's a 700R4.
