Any tips on telling my husband we are having a little one?

This is our FIRST baby. We got married about 7 months ago and we both agreed what happens, happens. I would really like creative answers and fun ones to!

E cards

One of the simplest ways to announce your pregnancy is by e card. Hundreds of websites offer free e cards or some you can pay for.

Buy them a gift

Go to any store that sells small baby items. A dollar store is a good choice if you want to keep it low budget. Buy items like baby bibs, bottles, rattles, pacifiers, baby shoes, etc. Also you will need to buy small boxes for the items to fit in and gift wrapping paper. When you have time alone, place each item individually into a box and wrap them. Place a tag on each box for the person who will be receiving it. This can be done for your parents, his parents, your husband, sisters and brothers and so on.

You can even place a little note in each one saying, “We’re having a baby!”

Imagine your family’s surprise when they open this gift!

Ultrasound, baby’s first picture

Not all doctors give an ultrasound when you first find out you’re pregnant. Some do, however and this is another cute way to make your happy announcement. After you have your 1st ultrasound have copies made for the number of people you want to share your announcement with. Copies can be made in color for picture quality at a number of drug stores that offer film development. Buy enough frames for every copy that you had made. Also buy gift wrap and boxes for each.

When you have alone time, frame each ultrasound and wrap them carefully (stuffing the box is best since it is a breakable). Place a tag on each box to the person you plan on giving it to.

This is especially great for Christmas time, etc. Your family will be so excited by your baby’s first picture!

Paper Cards

Another great idea (if you are able to find them) is give out father’s day and grandparent’s day cards. If you can find the cards, fill them out saying: “Happy Father’s Day, etc. By the way, we are having a baby! “This will hit them from left field, especially if it is done completely out of the blue. If you have a hard time finding these cards because stores only sell them around the holidays they are intended for, try looking on the internet.

Word Search

This can be time consuming, especially if you have a lot of people to tell, but it is adorable. You will need a computer, printer and some type of software you can type on. On your computer type out various letters in no particular order in 10 columns across the screen and 10 columns down. When you finish you should have 100 letters in the form of a box (just like word search in a newspaper). Somewhere in the jumble of letters (wherever you decide) take out enough of the letters to put “We’re Pregnant” or “We’re having a baby”.

Let your friends and family members have fun searching for the secret you have to tell!

Proud Daddy and Grandparents t shirts

Another cute idea is to buy baby t shirts for your family. The t shirts should reflect who will be receiving them.

Example:

proud daddy
#1 grandpa
#1 grandma
#1 aunt or uncle

Package them the same, with gift wrap etc. and then pass them out to your family and friends!

There are so many creative ways to share your joyous occasion with the people you love. Give people the gift of surprise with a creative pregnancy announcement

A simple way to say it without words is to let him find a positive pregnancy test ­ just don't count on them knowing which lines mean positive and which mean negative.

You could just leave it lying around, or you could do something more fun like having a baby doll holding it, hiding it in his car or mailing it to him at work. There's also a free online pregnancy test you could suggest he takes (yes him) at Materni-Tee.com/test.html

Other items that could make the penny drop are pacifiers/dummies, rattles, baby booties etc. These can be given as gifts, left to be found or placed in a bag to see if he can guess what they are by feel.

Similarly, you could order some baby clothes or bibs with amusing messages to give to him.

Hanging a 'BABY ON BOARD' sign in his car window could make a nice surprise in the morning. If you have a color printer you can print one out for free here.

If he doesn't embarrass easily, you could arrange a public announcement somewhere that you'll both be, such as a fair or a sporting event.

Or for a slightly smaller audience, book a meal at your favourite restaurant and order a half-bottle of champagne. When it arrives, explain that you won't be drinking alcohol for a while as you give a meaningful pat to your tummy (this could also be done over a romantic meal at home).

You could have a bunch of flowers or balloons delivered to his work, with a card announcing the news.

There are books about fatherhood, parenthood and pregnancy that you could leave by his bedside.

Have dinner and give him baby utensils and tell him you need practice fof when feeding the baby so you can practice on me!! Smile

Or After a nice diiner give him a baby silver sPoon with a yellow ribbon saying something nice about you being pregnant or what's to came Ex. Your going to be a great DAD!

well what do yall like to do together? what is he into? if he like nature go on a walk and write it in the dirt while he isn`t lookin then act like yall stumbled upon it.. or if its sports he likes you could make up a cheer for him and cheer it to him..or if its cars he likes buy a little car and draw in the back windshild a baby on bord sign.. or if its fishing he likes go fishing with him and then put a note in the fish`s mouth or put the test on the hook and tell him you caught something! reel it up and tada you got your self a baby! or maybe he doesn`t like any of those so you could write it on your tummy or start by asking him what date yall met then start naming dates he`s suposed to know then after a few say the due date and he`ll be like"????" and you`ll say thats day yall sould be meeting your child...(i like that one the best)

Oh yes its time to bring out the baby photo alblum when you and him were little. And start coming up with interesting questions like if I was pregnant. How would you take care of me please name the ways LOL. Have fun

I baked a TON of cupcakes (I think about 75) and spelled out DADDY with them across a table. When my husband saw it he was ecstaic. Then, we shared all the cupcakes with family and friends to celebrate our wonderful news!

play charades with him and make him guess ur having a baby. also have a night were u eat all baby foods. and if he still doesnt get it show him the test results

i would just tell him, nothing fancy. cause if you put a lot of work and thought into it and he really doesn't feel "whatever happens, happens" he can't spoil it in that moment. but if you just randomly tell him, you will automatically be able to tell how he feels about it by his body language and facial expressions. it will be so natural other than kinda pre-emptive. kive him a kiss when he comes home and tell him the good news. and see how he reacts. you'll never forget it.
