My husband and I have been married for just over three years and we are starting to think about having a baby. I am currently on Depo Provera. How long will it take for my period to come back and can I get pregnant right when it comes back?

I was on the depo shot for nearly 4 years and i stopped taking it, got my period that next month back & was pregnant 11 months later.

Depo-Provera is not a good choice if you want to be pregnant in the next year or two. Why? Because it typically takes 9 to 10 months to become pregnant after you stop taking Depo-Provera as a contraceptive. It could even take up to 24 months after discontinuing use of Depo-Provera for you to become pregnant. The length of time you use Depo-Provera has no effect on how long it takes you to become pregnant.

Okay. This is turning into a depo question. I'm sorry, I'm interested in the same. How long did it take you to concieve after birth control? Personally, I was on Depo for 6 years. My Dr. said that it can take up to 18 months to leave your body. I switched to pills 2 years ago... No one can predict this. I wish you luck, and I suggest talking to your Dr to plan this, I did, and it's much more exciting to enjoy this, not stress. Best of luck!

Depo takes a couple of months to wear off. Usually they recommend waiting to get pregnant until after you've had your first normal cycle.
