I myself know how badly an 18 year old daughter can break your heart. My husband and I have raised 3 and they all went through their stages. Unfortunately, once they reach the age of 18 there isn't a thing you can do about their behavior or where they live.

The only thing I can tell you is that they will all eventually come home and all you can do is leave the door open for them and let them know that they are welcome back as long as they follow the rules. Our oldest wasn't even out of high school when she turned 18, met "the man of her dreams" and moved out. She came back home some time later and has never seen the guy again. Have heart. She will turn around and come back if it doesn't work out.

She's completely in her rights to be where ever she chooses. As a matter of fact, if you were to say do something like go and get her, you could be charged with kidnapping or at least unlawful improsonment. You most likely told her before she was 18 that it was your house, and your rules and all the usual stuff, well this is what you asked for, so now you got it.

I am sorry but at 18 she is a legal Adult and no longer under your care. She really thinks at this age she knows all and Mom and Dad are crazy, but don't give up hope. I have no doubt she will be calling you both before long..

I don't think so. Is "he" at least 18?

At 18 she is a legal adult and responsible for her own actions. Besides parental guilt, you can't do much. Wish her the best, be loving parents and supportive and hopefully she'll come back when she needs you. And she will need you!!!!!

No. She's an adult and she has the right to live with whoever she wants and not be in contact with her parents.

She's also old enough to enter into contracts, go to prison, join the Army, and do any adult thing she wants.

On the other hand, she's still a teenager.

Go figure.

Not really.

As long as she is not mentally ill to the point of being unable to make decisions for herself, once she is an adult she can do what she wants without parental permission or approval.

best thing you can do is tell her she is an adult now and has made adult choices she has to live with. also tell her you wont come up with bail money should the need arise. shes on her own.
