i live in a basement apt. and the ants are in full force already. I've been killing every ant i see. then i learned that if you leave a dead ant, they will come and take the body to eat. so now every time i see an ant i pick it up with my hands and drop it into liquid wax. immediately their bodies boil and pop and bubble. it's satisfying but it's not helping. they are attacking me while i sleep. today i have all these bug bites on me and i know the only bug i've been in contact with recently are ants. i didn't know they big and it leaves a bite that itches. so now i'm mad and i want to inflict as much harm and torture to their colony as possible. i don't want them to just leave and not come back, i want every ant that ever stepped foot into my house to die a horrible slow death. any suggestions?

Ants enter homes looking for food, water and shelter. Controlling them usually requires a combination of methods.
Instructions
STEP 1: Keep ants out. Caulk and seal all cracks and crevices around your home's foundation; inside, pay special attention to areas where food is prepared. STEP 2: Fix plumbing leaks. Remove food sources. Store food in clean, closed containers. Store garbage outdoors in sealed containers. STEP 3: Use bait to destroy nests. For an entire colony to be destroyed, ant bait must be slow-acting. Some of the chemicals that are effective in baits are hydramethylnon, boric acid and fipronil. Baits will work only if there is no other food source nearby. STEP 4: If ants are inside, wash them away with warm, soapy water. This removes the chemical trail and is as effective as most of the insecticides. STEP 5: Do not allow any wood - firewood, yard debris or foundations - to remain in contact with the soil. Damp wood provides a habitat for carpenter ants. Trim tree branches and shrubs away from buildings. Tips & Warnings
For extreme ant infestations, seek the help of a professional exterminator.
Be sure to keep ant baits away from children and pets.

1. Contact your landlord. Tell him you are being bitten while sleeping! He has a responsibility to keep the apt. insect-free.

2. If they are in yoru cupboard, discard any packages of cereal, flour, cookies they may have infested.

3. Ants often eat termites. This is another reason to tell your landlord. He may have termites and need to get the place treated.

4. Find the above-ground colonies, if you can. (If it hasn't rained lately, they're probalby still underground, so ignore this part until you can see them.) Get a friend, and 2 shovels. Dig up half of each mound at hte same time, carry it to each oteher's now-half-a-mound, and deposti the shovelful of "other" mound on this mound. They will fight each other to the death, no chemicals needed.

vinegar and water in a bucket-disturbs the trail that led them to your apartment. the ants follow the chemical trail left by their ant buddies. Other chemicals can be harmful to humans and pets. Vinegar smells bad until it dries-but- it will not kill you like pesticides.
