The show wasn't live, so they probably edited out the times that it happened. At the end there is a disclaimer that scenes not affecting the outcome have been edited, and this would be one of those cases.

Yes, I saw it happen several times. One time it was a question about the body and the person chose to phone their friend who was a doctor but the doctor wasn't home. The contestant just walked with the money. It was quite funny.

The phone a friend people are told to be home during a certain time frame. But that show wasn't live was it? If not, then if noone answered, I'm sure they had back-ups.

No that wouldn't happen unless the person they were calling wasn't home and they got the answering machine.

I've always wondered that. I also want to know why they always answer on the 2nd or 3rd ring. Perhaps they are already on the line or something.
