Usually, you pull the release cable, and the hood pops up a little, then you go out side and move a lever and then lift the hood. If the hood is not popping that first little bit, the spring may be broken, damaged, or missing. On most vehicles with a double catch hood latch, there is a small coil spring attached to either the hood or the radiator support that pushes the hood up just enough to keep it from catching again.

If you need a new one, check out a wrecking yard, or see if you can get one from a dealership, or retrofit one from another vehicle.

Good luck!

In the centre of the latch is what looks like a spike with a spring around it. This spring needs to be adjusted so that the spring pushes harder on the hood. When you pull the release catch, the hood should pop up and stay up - this is the purpose of this spring. Two people should not be required.

i own a shop, and try adding a few drops of oil to the latch assembly on it,this will help it pop up better by its self.it may take a few times of shutting it and opening it for this to work but it will help it a lot,it will eventually pop up by its self and be a lot easier to open, good luck hope this helps.
