Women tend to have a lot of each kind of clothing. It's not that they like shoes a lot, it's that they do the clothes thing a lot, so they will have more shoes. Also, as far as men's clothing is concerned, one pair will go with a lot of things and men organize their shoe purchases according to function: business, sport, messy work, etc., and women tend to deal with decoration when it comes to shoes.
