I will say from experience that it is about a 7 hour trip.. It will take you about an hour to get out past Gawler if you go during the day..Plus a pi*s stop or two, Fuel up etc.. I live in Peterborough which is 24 kms from Terowie which you will pass through about 180 kms nth of Gawler..A word of advice, if you are driving at night be very careful as the Roo's will be about.. I find that past Oodla Wirra, the further NE you go the more you will see..Happy Trails...

I have made the drive twice. First time, in tourist mode, stopping frequently for pictures, snacks, and a nap, I took a little over eight hours. Second time, driving with a purpose, I made the trip in five hours. It is not a terribly long drive, and the scenery is great. Watch out for the Roo's and emus

It's a little over 500km. The speed limit most of the way is 110km/h so you should do it comfortably, with a break, in six hours.

I'd plan 7 or 8 hours, allowing for rest stops.
