More and more schools are foregoing paper acceptance letters and support materials and going with online material. So your acceptance letter might be just that--"Congrats, you're in, here's the website with all the other information, including the six hundred forms you'll need for financial aid, housing, roommate assignments, etc."

More than likely you will receive your notification online through the school's website before you even receive a letter. In the case that you receive your letter first, it is not necessarily true but depends on the college. Georgia State sent me a regular sized envelope that told me I was accepted and to check online.

Not necessarily. While most of my acceptances came in huge bulky envelopes, UNH sent me a normal envelope that was just like "Hey! You're in! More stuff on the way!" Also, although Brandeis's eventual acceptance letter came in a huge envelope with all the materials, throughout the year before they sent it out they would send me various post cards being like "Wish you were here!" and "We hope to see you next year!" (something I thought was a nice touch.)

It depends on the school really. Mine was a normal thickness, but letter size. I only had three papers inside. One was my letter of acceptance. Another was a letter stating I qualified for a scholarship based on merit, and the last was form I needed to send in with my nonrefundable deposit. After I sent my check in I didn't hear from them for about 6 months.

Not really. The letter and packet I recieved was rather short. It had only four papers: one saying Congrats, and the three just talking about their school. However, this school is more internet based.

Usually when you are accepted you receive a thick envelope with lots of detailed paperwork, welcome letter, schedules, info for dorms, etc.
