world of warcraft is it the best mmorpg or is it just the most heard of one?

i play wow (world of warcraft) and i love it its so good but personaly i like FFXI (final fnatasy xi) the best i love the fact that you can switch classes and not have to make another charater you just have to lv that class up so i got to think and i noticed wow isnt really rank that high on best mmorpg list and some times its not even ranked there at all so could it be its just the most heard of

dont get me wrong i still love wow in fact i have a lv70 tauren druid and have restarted playing on my blood elf which is at lv 29 right now i just like ff11 the best because i love final fantasy and i love the class switching and not haveing to make another guy to play another class

I used to play FFXI (great game) for awhile but switched to WoW (greater game) to compare the two games. And I have a few reasons to back me up.
World of Warcraft_________________________
+ Great combat system
+ Better story & more quests
+ More choices with looks, races, equipment, and talents...
+ Not to mention items, abilities, and ways to make yourself stand out
+ Great music
+ Much larger areas and barely any loading screens
+ Graphics are smooth but kinda cartoony(not that it's bad.)
+ Blizzard has alot of experience when it comes to MMO
+ Can jump, swim, and have more freedom to move around
+ Can choose faction and attack the other one
+ And an awesome PvP system
+ Easier looting system
- Can't change classes
- Need's a pretty good computer to play
- Bigger monthly fee
- And aww...jeez I have nothing else...
Final Fantasy XI____________________________
+ Some references to other FF games.
+ Good music
+ Graphics look more serious, but not as smooth
+ More jobs and they're fun to get and use.
+ Subjobs(This gives you more options and can help a great deal.)
+ The festivals are creative and a little funner.
+ You can hatch, raise, and ride your own chocobo.
- More loading screens
- Can't jump or swim(drives me crazy!)
- Slightly harder and you almost always need a party
- The PvP needs to be worked on
- Almost everyone looks the same!
- Takes forever to get around -.-
- You just can't do as much stuff as you can on WoW.

(Final decision) I admit, they are both great games, but WoW is more well known and an all around better game. WoW is played more for a reason. WoW is the the best.

World of Warcraft is so popular because of where it came from. Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo (all made by Blizzard) players have all basically come together to play this one game. It is such a big landscape, never running out of things to do. It just keeps updating and getting bigger. Will there ever be an end to World of Warcraft? Not in the next 5 years no.

It's all a matter of personal preference.
I used a free trial for WoW, didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped, and deleted it from my computer several days before my trial was up. Meanwhile, I've been playing GW for a while, but it plays differently than other MMOs, since there is very little player controlled in the PvE part of the game. If I were to actually sign up for a subscription of a game, it'd certainly have to be EVE, no doubt the greatest MMO I have ever played. Unfortunately, I'm cheap/in college and paying a subscription for a game isn't part of my budget. EVE's probably one of the least heard of MMO's out there, but it's an amazing game (personal preference, I know, but no other game has so awed me when I first started playing, other than Morrowind).

Edit: If you are willing to take the time to download it and have room on your computer, I would definitely recommend using a free trial for EVE. If you don't like it, then obviously don't play it, but I fully endorse it.

It's just the most popular. World of Warcraft is pretty simple, is easy to learn and play, and doesn't suffer the problems that a lot of other MMORPGs do. For example, there aren't too many bugs, there's relative PvP balance, low amounts of inflation, etc. However, compared to a lot of games out there, World of Warcraft is mind-numbingly simple, especially when compared to numbers-heavy games like EVE and Anarchy Online.

Obviously, there is no single "best" MMORPG. It all depends on how you like to play.

Personally I think its both. It has alot of players and is a fun and enjoyable game. The only reason its most heard of because of the people who play it help blizzard get enough money for ads.

no definitly the best its not like others with a main quest in the game it has so much of an advantage over other games. for once you reach the top theres still thousands of things youve yet to do. words cannot describe you have to play the game i guarentee you will like it.
