Predicate Adjective follows a linking verb (predicate) and describes the noun

1. (linking verb)Were - Courageous
2. Became - Deadly
3. Were - Helpless

To find the predicate adjective, find the subject and the verb. Check to see whether the verb is a linking verb. Then find the adjective that follows the verb and describes the subject.
1 is courageous. 2 would be deadly. 3 would be helpless.
