Because of their age. The younger you are (obviously you have to be menstruating) the better your fertility. Every single year older lessens your chances of getting pregnant in any given cycle. In your early 20s your probability of conceiving a child each month is 25%. By the time you're in your early 30s, your probability of conception each month is only 15%.

I asked my doc the same freakin' question.
Here is the reason: they have more eggs & the optimal baby making time is 14-20--but our economics & social way of living has truly changed so now we 'can't' have kids then.
Adults have less & less eggs as the years pass...

Well one thing might be that teen girls' ovaries are much ...hmm..."fresher" than adult womens
