i bent the big toe when i was running bare foot. i can move it so i dont think its broken. its pretty stiff and red. it hurts to walk and i think its the muscle but i dont know.

Most likely you've simply strained or sprained it. If it starts to swell, the color gets darker, the pain gets worse or it gets harder to move, I would suggest you go to the emergency room and have it looked at. If you can take an anti-inflammatory that may help with the pain. You could also soak your foot in warm water with some Epsom salts in it. Try not to wear any tight shoes for a while and keep your foot up when possible.

Keep in mind, I'm not a doctor, just a mom and these are only suggestions.

I'm not sure what you did to your toe but it sounds like you bruised a muscle. If it doesn't get better in a week you should see a doctor.
