Have any of you ever traveled on I-40 in its entirety From Wilmington,NC all the way out to Barstowe, California?

Yeah, I've hit every mile of it. However, I have not traveled it all at once. As a truck driver, I ran from LA to Raleigh, but I have only done Raleigh to Wilmington a few times for vacation. I love traveling this great country.

Very close...

In 1987, before I shipped out to Korea, I drove from the intersection of I40 and I81 (near ashville NC) to Barstow, and then up to Monterey, back when Fort Ord was still around.

It is a long drive.... the one you describe would be about another 4 or 5 hours longer. It took me 3 solid days driving about 14 hours per day. It's a cool drive, but the Western parts (Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico) can get boring

No, but I have traveled through the Asheville, NC area and it is ideal all Fall long. The Blue Ridge Mountands make this a wonderful road trip
