The Phillies will win the NL East by at least 10 games over the Mets. The Phillies will go on to win the National League Pennant.

I'd be shocked if the Phillies manage to stay anywhere close to anyone this year. Howard, Utley, and Rollins are really the only offensive threats on the entire team. Burrell has some pop but his lifetime .258 batting average doesn't really instill fear into anyone. Everyone else is pretty....well sub average.

They're pitching looks a little better....maybe. Myers and Hamels should be solid, Eaton could be good, but I think they will be in much need of a 4 and 5 starter. The bullpen really isn't anything to get excited about either, and I'd be worried if my closer were almost 40...Gordon may have health issues at some point this season.

As for the Mets....I'll give them the fact that they should have the best offense in the NL....however, it wouldn't shock me if they have the worst pitching to go with it. They are really just going to miss Pedro too much. The offense should keep them in the Wild Card race.

For me the division will come down to the Marlins and Braves. Florida surprised a lot of people last year and should be better this year. If they have a healthy team they can be very good.

Atlanta was a good team last year that was plagued by injury. Hampton was out the season, Chipper was in and out of the line-up and McCann was out for a while. Chipper should be healthy this year, Hampton will be back in a little bit, and McCann is poised to make a run at the NL batting title. This is a team that should win not only the division but they should make a run at the pennant as well.

Mets. The whole NL East has some pretty crappy pitching, so if everybodies pitching sucks, then it all evens out. The Nationals have no chance, see them in last place. The Marlins made a huge mistake in firing Joe Girardi. Cabrera will be great, but Uggla and Ramirez may struggle. The Phillies will come up in 3rd. They have awful pitching this year, and Ryan Howard wont be able to put up numbers like he did last year because pitchers will just pitch around him (there's only Burrell and Helms coming up behind him). 2nd will be the Braves. The Braves have a lot of talent, but that talent is still developing in guys like Brian McCann and Jeff Francouer. And in first will be the Mets. I expect them to make a move sometime during the season for a starting pitcher, but they will be fine, with great seasons from Reyes, Beltran, and Wright.

I happen to be a Phillies fan and would love to see them win it this year. However the Mets are great once again. Their pitchin g staff is depleted, especially without Pedro Martinez, but they have an offense with enough stick to "outshoot" teams in games. They can win games with scores like 10 - 8 or 7 - 4 because of the runs the can bring in.
Also, I think the Braves will rebound this year. Their pitching is decent, and their hitters are great. Chipper and Andruw Jones are great, and their catcher, McCann is poised for a big year. The only thing hurting them was losing LaRoche to the Pirates.
Overall I could see the Phillies winning it, but I could also see them in 3rd with the Mets winning it, and the Braves in 2nd.

sorry buddy but the phillies have a questionable pitching staff. The mets have a beefed up offense and decent pitching which will win them the nl east but i believe the phillies are the front runners for the wild card. Hammels is a rooklie who is not proven, eaton is a disaster, your ace myers is solid , leiber is very questionable and freddie garcia is in a hitters park and he will get destroyed. Other than utley and howard the offense is terrible but it will be enough to get the wildcard sorry! Mets will win again

Gotta go with the Mets again. Pitching is weak but their lineup should be enough to carry them. The Phillies improved, but their trash-talking is gonna catch up with them.
