Phillip : In 1 hour he can paint 1/6 of the room.
Wade : In 1 hour he can paint 1/9 of the room.

(1/6)x + (1/9)x = 1 ' their rates together must total 100%
(15/54)x = 1 ' together they paint (15/54)% in 1 hour
x = 54/15 or 3.6 hours
