A friend of mine had been getting Iron injections & she keeps stooling on herself. All of her clothes are ruined from the stains. Please help me to help her find something to get the stains out. Thank you very much.

Have you tried the oxygen cleaners? I think one brand is Oxy-Clean. Bleach alternatives that are intended for colors should work. Also, Shout works well. Pre-soak the clothes before washing.

If the clothes have already been washed and dried the stains may be permenate. However, there are a couple of things you can try on the old stains that may help and will definately work on the new stains.

First, if she is not alergic to Tide - get the liquid version (I personally think the one with bleach alternative works best) and apply the liquid liberally to the spots. Work into the stain in the direction of the fabric. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes then wash AND rinse in warm water. Cold water will set most stains. If after washing you can still see the stain, DO NOT DRY!

The next thing I would try is Spot Shot. It is a cleaner for carpet and I have used it many times on clothing. Spray it on and let it sit for about one minute. Then respray a little more and begin to work it into the stain in the direction of the fabric. Wash immediately for best results. Wash and rinse in warm water. If after washing the stain is still visable you can try one more thing.

The LAST thing I would try is peroxide. However, I must warn you to soak the entire garment in the peroxide, after working it into the stain, because it may slightly discolor the fabric. In my experience, discoloration has been minimual. I would only soak the garment 10-15 minutes.

The first two will work very well on fresh stains and will probably only need to be treated once. I have used both of the first methods on old stains and have been some what successful, but I did have to treat atleast twice.

The key to getting out fresh stains is to not let them dry. If she can't wash them immediately then tell her to soak them in warm water to keep the fabric wet. You can also tell her to carry the tide pen with her to treat new stains immediately or the shout wipes. Both work very well to keep stains from setting until they can be washed.

I hope this helps!

I would also look at treating the cause of her diarrhea as well instead of the symptoms (stained clothes) of her problem.

I doubt iron injections would cause this...something doesn't sound right.

The only times symptoms of iron injections would be diahrrhea is in case of iron overdose (by injection). The stool would also have blood in it possibly.

Have your friend get back to the doctor immediately and tell him or her about the diarrhea.

There is bar soap for laundry that has been around for years, Fels Naptha. It works on a lot of hard to get out stains.
I also think she should go back to the doctor.
And for future stains, have her keep them wet in a bag or a bucket so they will be easier to get out and not set.

This should be easy and will remove laundry stains like magic will also kill any germs resulting from accidents from urine and feces. Soften fabrics, kill bacteria, eliminate static, and more

There are so many benefits to be reaped by adding 1 cup white vinegar to your washer's rinse cycle that it's surprising that you don't find it prominently mentioned inside the owner's manual of every washing machine sold. Here are the main ones:
A single cup of vinegar will kill off any bacteria that may be present in your wash load, especially if it includes cloth diapers and the like.

A cup of vinegar will keep your clothes coming out of the wash soft and smelling fresh -- so you can kiss your fabric-softening liquids and sheets good-bye (unless, of course, you happen to like your clothes smelling of heavy perfumes).

A cup of vinegar will brighten small loads of white clothes.

Added to the last rinse, a cup of vinegar will keep your clothes lint- and static-free.

Adding a cupful of vinegar to the last rinse will set the color of your newly dyed fabrics.
