No. I use the phone company's phone answering service. It will even pick up a message if your phone line is busy because you are making a call. An answering machine can't do that.
I have about one phone per room (except bathrooms, although casino bathrooms have them and make the idea kind of grossly attractive). Most are cordless so they work anywhere around the house and outside. One has a FAX attached too - does that count as an extra? Is there a prize for high score?

One main phone, a voice manager(kind of like a answering machine in a way), 2 cordless phones, and 2 cell phones.

I have voice mail and don't laugh but we have 8 phones in our house!!! Well, one is actually in the garage but I can still hear it ring. I had to turn the ringer off of some of them because it was just way to loud when they all rang at once. Funny thing is.....I am usually hunting down a phone when it rings and they are usually all upstairs in my girls room....and they have their OWN phones!!
