Of the ones you mention, the best quality is the blackberry IMHO. I think the sidekicks will eventually be better, and I like their style better, but they are still working the kinks out. Personally I would NEVER spend $300 on a phone...generally the expensive ones work the worst from my experience. That or you can find the exact same one free or close to it between rebates and incentives.

A lot depends on what company you go with, and hitting a deal on what you want. I've also found they keep finding better deals when you hold out...so my advice is to NOT go in and say you will spend up to $300...cause if you do they'll take it! Since you'll need a parent to sign the contract maybe you can get one to play good cop bad cop and negoatiate?

I'd start online comparing deals, and reviews...I know for a fact that Amazon was offering the Sidekick free after rebate at Amazon, but it was with Tmobile and I don't like their quality service. And glad I didn't because I've heard of so many problems with them. But it seems these deals change all the time, sometimes it's cheaper in the store, sometimes online etc.

Part of the problem in suggesting a phone is how quickly they change, and how a new version can either be much better or worse depending on the phone. For ex someone said how bad the Razr's are...and the first ones were a nightmare. But last I checked on them, the 3rd release was supposed to be like a totally different phone. But I'm waiting for it to be out long enough to hear if they are getting returns on it.

That's my last suggestion to you...before you buy anything, when you have it narrowed down to 1 or 2, talk to the technician at the store and ask how many they have been getting back and repairing. That usually helps find out what REALLY is working good not what they say is good. And I'd hold anything you are considering and see if it feels comfortable, not just looks good in a picture.

Also keep in mind the more these things do, the less well they do it. And I've yet to see any phone that has a decent camera in it...some are just less bad than others. But hey, if you play this right you should have plenty of money left over to buy a killer dig cam! That's what I'd do...good luck with it! Sorry I didn't suggest a specific model but hope these tips will help you find the one best for YOU!

My bestfriend just recently had to return his T-Mobile Sidekick Three, for another Razr.

The Sidekick Internet was extremely Slow! It took between 5 and 10 minutes just to open pages like myspace, etc. The Spring-loaded Swivel Screen for the keyboard maybe cool, but after 2 weeks of opening it starts getting loose, and feels like it's going break, which is the reason my boyfriend had to return it do to the fact that the thing actually had broke as he was opening it and if just broke in half, the screen separated from the keyboard! Granted he did have it for several months and it took a good amount of drops to the sidewalk...

He Chose the Razr b\c his first Razr was excellent. I also have a Razr and I've had 0 problems, the only problem i can think of it that it can get a little slow sometimes, but not enough to fret over.

If you are 16 go get a job and save up for one.In most states 16 years olds can work part time after school. So why not save for something more important a electronic leash? Like a car? College? An apartment? Or invest in stock, bonds etc..
Why are looks so important? It's just a phone!
