My company requires that any same sex coworkers traveling together share a single hotel room. Am I the only one who around here who doesn't want her coworkers to see her in her jammies and bunny slippers? This seems to push the limits of professionalism, and is totally trapped in the past because of course it assumes everyone is straight. I've worked for a few different employers and this is a first for me. My boss said that of course I can have my own hotel room ... if I PAY FOR IT!!!
Is this crazy ... or am I?

I'm actually not afraid anyone's going to make the moves on me... but by making the rules different for different sex coworkers my company implies that this might be the case for different sex coworkers, which is ridiculous.
My lack of comfort comes from the humiliation of having to share a hotel room with someone who I want to maintain a professional relationship with. A hotel room feels too intimate for coworkers who barely talk at work.
I appreciate all of your honest answers, but just wanted to fill in this gap I left in the original post.
