I have a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ processor (2ghz), 1.5mb RAM, and my video card is a Radeon 9550. On forums I have heard other people can play games such as Halo and Half-life 2 on the highest quality with these specs, although I cannot set the quality to the highest without some serious frame jumping and freezing. Are they lying, or do I just need to improve my computer (and what should i do to improve it). If I have to upgrade my computer i'd like to keep my current processor, but i still want to play games on the highest settings.

radeon 9550 is a pretty old graphic card, so i doubt it can even play HL2 smoothly at lowest settings. the processor is alright, but definately need to upgrade your graphic card and try to get 2g ram if you can.
