If I understand you correctly, you are living in Russia. Sometimes in another country you can be given false ideas about America. For instance, when I was in Spain, one of my children's teachers explained how in America white people regularly shot at blacks for target practise! Quite imaginative. He had seen too many movies I guess.
The truth is, there are some Americans that are extremely hateful to blacks. Not all. In American Universities, there are courses on black history. The USA even recognizes a "Black History Month".
Since the Civil rights movement, the situation of American blacks has changed radically for the better. In spite of that, there are still many whites that feel that the only way they can maintain their self-worth is by despising another race, namely blacks in most cases. It is a shameful fact, but you will find people like that in all countries.
I am a Canadian and we like to believe that we are not racist, but you should see how many Canadians show an attitude toward what we call the "First Nations" (Indian tribes). As I said, racism is found everywhere. Different black races act badly toward each other in Africa. The Indian caste system is a racist thing too (the higher caste is white, the lowest caste is practically black). It is up to us as individuals to do away with that in our own lives.

I was told by a dear friend who is in his late 70's now. That there are really only 2 who are truly free here in the United States.
White men and black women.
He being black and from the deep south, growing up at a time of tremendous change for blacks, I had to ask why he felt that way.
He said and even in his youthful days, White men have sought out black women.

I'm glad to see that you are learning about my people. I wish more people were able to do what you are doing. Not all Americans despise Black women, however there are a good amount that do. It's a vicious cycle that has stemmed down from slavery. It was common for slave masters and their wives to put down Black women as incompetent and non-human to make them obey and stay as slaves. However,(and Thank God) this didn't work, many Black women rebelled and established names of respect for themselves like Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth and Phyllis Wheatley. Times have changed since then but it was a long fought battle. Today, people like Oprah, Condelezza Rice, Angela Bassett and others have set standards of respect for Black women however the battle still continues to make sure that my younger sisters know that they are intelligent and just as important as any other woman on this earth.

I would visit the US before saying that, as you're likely to get a lot of nasty answers on here. I also find it interesting (to say the least) that they have that sort of class over there. We do here too, it's called African-American studies or similar names.
Native American women get it worse in some cases. I find that we're not quite seen as human in the US, and it drives me insane.

Well, I dont think it is hate, but rather ignorance passed on from generations. Its strange but for some reason I dont come across racism on a day to day basis as I did in Yahoo Answers.

I have never come across anyone that felt that way. Or thought that way.
My family doesn't think racially. I am American. One of my best friends in school was very dark skinned. Also I am very proud of Black Americans, the Chinese, etc. for what they have contributed to our great country.
I am sorry you have been told otherwise.
