Blonde hair and blue eyes are both recessive genes, meaning that you have to carry it on both genes to have it. You get one gene from each parents, that's how you have 2. When 2 blonde hair and blue eyed people have a baby they have blonde hair blue eyed children since that's all they have to offer. Now 2 brown hair brown eyed people could have a blonde hair blue eyed child if they both carry the genes since brown hair and brown eyes are both dominant genes and you only need one to show the characteristic. The fact that both your moms are brown haired means nothing for your baby since they each had to carry a blonde hair gene since both of you show the characteristic. If either of you had received the brown hair gene from your moms, then you would have brown hair.

* There have been rare cases of a mutation occuring, but it's extremely rare.

Although you are more likely to have a baby with blonde hair and blue eyes, it's a 50-50.

My parents both had blonde hair and blue eyes. Out of their 6 kids, Half have blond hair, half have brunette. Half have blue eyes, half have brown. My paternal grandmother was a brunette with hazel eyes. My son (her great-grandson) is the only one of all the relatives to also have hazel eyes.

On the other hand, my Uncle is blond/blue eyed and married to a dark woman with brown eyes. All of the children have brown eyes and skin (not as dark as mom) which means that brown is much more dominant in some groups than others.

Eye color is weird because multiple allelles can produce what they call a throwback (somewhere in the back of beyond this eye color existed, but it is not recessive in the general mendelian genetics way).

Well from what I remember, those are both recessive genes so that would mean you both have 2 blonde hair genes (one from mom, one from dad) and same with the eyes. So you could only pass on blonde hair and blue eyes. But reading other peoples answers, I guess anything can happen.

The hair is a toss-up...

Generally the eyes will be a lock...but it isn't 100% sure. I have heard of cases of a baby's eyes turing brown, or other colours, even if both parents, and each of *their* parents had blue eyes. In some cases, the only thing that saved the marriage was genetic testing that proved conclusively that the father was the father.

The allele for blue eyes is recessive, which means if you and your wife are both blue-eyed, you have four alleles for blue eyes between you, which means your baby *should* also have blue eyes...rather, that the baby's eyes will STAY blue.

Melissa is the only one on here that knows what she's talking about. So many people told you that you could have a brown-eyed child and that's false. More than likely, your children will have blond hair and blue eyes just like the both of you.

My uncle has brown hair and blue eyes, and his wife has brown hair and eyes, but their 5 kids all have blue eyes and blond hair.

chances are very good that your baby will have blonde hair and blue eyes, but she may inherit a recessive gene from one of you and end up with a different eye or hair color.

Nope, the baby can be anything. My cousin is blond blue eyed and her husband was dark haired with blue eyes but their first daughter was dark with dark eyes. I also have two friends that were dark haired with dark eyes and their babe way white haired with pale blue eyes. You never know.
