Both of them are highly water soluble, but also can be crystallized from water at high concentrations. Sugar is more soluble by the way.
Actually they are quite different other than that. Sugar is organic, salt is inorganic. Sugar will not ionize, salt will. The elements and chemical bonding patterns that make them are quite different.
