The only chemical that produces the effects of THC is, of course, THC. The intoxicating effect is completely unique to marijuana, as is the case with the side-effects of any other intoxicant.

You can buy all the legal smoke on the market, and you won't come close to a THC high. Most of them taste foul, and may make you drowsy... at best.

Someone mentioned Jimson Weed, or Datura. Speaking from past experience, I would recommend that you stay away from this plant. The plant itself is completely legal, and grows wild all throughout North America. Depending on your body weight, certain amounts can be ingested to produce a mild-severe hallucinogenic effect...BUT...appropriate doses haven't been verified through any research studies, and accidental overdose is VERY common.

...here's a true story about some kid who tried it, and shouldn't have: A 14-year-old boy came across the effects of Datura while studying something botany related on the internet. He thought it would be a trip (literally) and so found the plant, which was practically growing in his back yard. Long story short; the kid did start to hallucinate, but there was nobody around to keep an eye on him to prevent him from doing something stupid. He began tripping hardcore, and went outside into a thunderstorm. He was found hours later, face down in a 3" puddle of water, just down the road from his house. He probably thought he was a fish & needed to breathe water... before he "suffocated." I've found several other similar cases, where some dumb kid died because he did something really stupid. Like many other drugs, your ability to reason could be severely impaired.

I tried it, and it did nothing but blur my vision for a few days. No extra-sensory effects, no "profound" epiphanies, just a dull buzz followed by the aforementioned blurred vision. But, my wife also tried it, and she vividly remembers having a conversation with a penguin in our living room. As ridiculous as this sounds, I swear to God that it's true. Case in point; it affects everybody differently...and you're not going to know what your experience will be like until you do it.

Be careful if you're going to experiment with "legal" highs. Many/most are just as dangerous as illegal drugs, in terms of damage to your health, but none of them will bring you close to a genuine THC buzz.

Remember:

"In order to become old & wise, you must first be young and stupid."

I Really strongly feel that any references to jimsonweed should be deleted from this post. My cousin's counselor told him about the weed with the warning "stay away from it". What did he do, he picked some and gave them to me and all my pothead/acid freak friends saying that they were morning glory seeds.

I ate about 30 or so seeds and then had the scariest most horrible experience of my entire life. This is not at all a drug to be taken lightly and I believe teens think they are invincible and think that trying something once couldn't possibly hurt them. One friend of mine went into a nuthouse and I havent seen or heard about him since (14 yrs ago). I was in the hospital for 3 days and 2 nights and am lucky that I can still form semi-legible sentences. To this day I get a anxious/ill feeling in my gut when I hear or read about datura stramonium. Funny thing is he picked it from the horse pasture behind my grandparents house where we played our whole childhood, putting the flowers on our fingers, and throwing the spiky pods at each other. It was the only weed back there that the horses wouldn't munch on.

*Forget it, I can't save anyone I guess, there is too much knowledge these days on the internet... If kids want to google alternative highs they will surely come across Jimson with pictures and directions and probably even cultivation info. Just if any teen reads this take my advice, Stear clear of that one... do ANY of the other mainstream trips, they still leave some amount of control and reality.

Well, as far a smoking goes, Salvia is good, and I have heard from friends that smoking green tea will produce a mild buzz. Although it is very dangerous, Coricidin Cold and Cough (aka Triple C's, Red Devils, Poor Man's x, etc) when taken in large quantities orally (usually between 8-14) will produce a strong trip, similar to a combined effect of alcohol and marijuana.

Well you got salvia, kratum but theyare dangerous as well and not recommended. Also you have kava kava which has strong mental effects. You have Belladonna, however it can be poisonous so don't touch it. There is also cinnamon which is a natural hallucinogen, North American skunk cabbage root, several Indian tribes smoked corn silk, Heavenly blue morning glory seeds are a hallucinogen, Mexican Damiana is a stimulant and an aphrodisiac the list goes on.....

I don't use anything myself but I am learning about healing herbs & ran across a website that you might find interesting. It explores what I like to call "extreme" herbs.
