What if Bill Gates were to...?

What if Bill Gates were to buy as many companies in America as he could. I mean all the big companies in all areas of industry until he ran out of money. Then what if he earned enough money in one life time to buy all the major and some minor companies in the U. S. How would the U.S. economy be affected and what would the government do?

im pretty sure there are monopoly laws against it, and if not he would pobably be stopped because by controlling that many big business u would control the world econmy and probably piss somebody off
