poor mama! Have you had the baby's latched checked? Have you seen if he is tongue tied? My son was and his latch was awful. His doc snipped it and he latched on perfectly 10 seconds later.

Have you tried soothies? They are cold packs for nipple pain.

Talk to a lactation consultant ASAP. You want to get checked for thrush and latch problems.

Keep at it, it only hurts for a little while, but it is SO VERY WORTH IT!-)

I can feel for you I am a mother of five. I breast feed them all. the third and forth one for a year and a half. The fifth one for four months now and still going. but my first and second for only four and three months. i too was having problems like you. i just wished that i would of called the lactation consultant about the problem. as soon as i stopped breast feeding my baby's got sick. by the time i was pregnant with my third child i had, had enough. i took a beast feeding class to see were i was going wrong. the lactation consultant that taught the class was help full and was right there after the delivery to guild me. don't be afraid to call the hospital and talk to that person they know how to help. it's there job.

Hi Lola,
I too had difficulties with breastfeeding my baby in the early days, sometimes it takes awhile for the baby to learn to feed properly and in the meantime unfortunately they hurt your nipples. The cream you are using is good, also Pawpaw ointment is good. The other thing to do is after your baby has finished a feed, squeeze out a little milk from your nipple and use it to rub over your nipples then let that dry before putting your bra back on. The breast milk has good healing properties in it and will help heal your sore nipples. Maybe also expressing your milk into bottles and feeding from the bottle to give your breasts a rest for a day or so will help. (i did that quite a few times as my nipples were horribly sore and it helped me alot).
Good Luck.

What you're using is good. Make sure to let your nipples dry completely after breastfeeding before you put your bra back on. Also, sometimes babies will nurse for comfort, even after the milk is gone. After awhile you will know which is which. One way to tell, is if you pull the baby away a little, do you see milk? If yes, baby's still eating. If no, then you probably can stop the feeding and cuddle baby to sleep. Good luck!

i might wait till it stops bleeding to nurse. flow forward and use the different part til then. a solid thank you to stay away from it fairly is, on an identical time as they are dry (which will quickly bypass) placed a huge wad of lanolin on your nipple and then placed the breast pad on. It keeps them moist and stops them from sticking. solid luck!

Call the hospital you delivered at and get the number for a lactation consultant. They will get better, the important thing is to keep breastfeeding. Try to stick with it anyway. I feel your pain.

Check your latch! Also, if you can, have an Lactatiion Consultant (call your hospital for a recommendation) its possible there could be a 'tongue tie' involved....
