I have to work a completely different shift tomorrow than I am used to. I work evenings and am not a morning person. I have to work tomorrow from 7-3 and have to get up at 5 30 am which I haven't ever done. I normally go to bed at midnight and get up at 8. I can't change my body clock and although I will go to bed early, I won't sleep. Too much noise in my apartment complex and just too early for me to feel sleepy. The worst part is I have a high stress customer service job and will be the only one working in the entire store (except for 3 useless managers) for the first hours. I am going to be half asleep and on top of that I can't take a break or lunch for 7 hours because there is no one to cover my department and it can't be left alone. I will take a lunch if I get a chance 45 minutes before I get off for 30 minutes and clock back in for 15 minutes before getting off. Makes no sense but I can't take a break or lunch before that. What can I eat for breakfast (about 6 am)

is there anything I can eat or drink to give me energy to work all those hours? We are not allowed anything at our workstations so I can't even have water to drink. It's ridiculous because of course the managers can have stuff in their offices any time. I don't want to end up leaving at the end of my shift with a bad headache from not eating like I have before.

go to the drugstore tonight and buy some earplugs. the foam ones rated at 29 or higher are best. put those in and go to bed about 10pm. tomorrow have a reasonable breakfast and pack some nuts and dried fruit in a plastic bag. carry that with you and eat some whenever you feel yourself getting a little tired. maybe even have a V8 or gatorade with you for a little sugar. don't take loads of caffeine because you will only feel like crap later on.

and have a serious talk with your boss about your working conditions.

Look for a better place to work at.
Life is short & you would enjoy it more if you can take care of yourself better than it sounds like you are now.
You will get health problems if you don't do something to take care of yourself.
Good luck.
