A wallflower has the priviledge of observing people's lives without having to become involved. Also, a wallflower can learn a lot about human behavior and relationships by observing. More can be learned through observation and listening then by social conversation, in my opinion. Plus, people do not always know they are being observed, a wallflower can see the true character in an individual that may be hidden from the rest of people present.
Plus, on a lighter note, there is always the entertainment factor involved in "people watching" A wallflower can never be too bored :)

No drama, you have black mail info if it ever comes down to that, people tend to forget about the stupid things you do because you don't highlight them, it's easier to get around in some situations versus being known all over town. Plus, you usually have a core group of friends that really know who you are and that ... is priceless. How many lime light, people pleasing, fake personality preps can say that someone actually knows them? If you ask them who they haven't lied to, stabbed in the back or done something dispicable to they will say very few. You can say that you haven't done that and have people you can depend on.

you do not have to suffer any potential embarassment in case you can't dance well. Another perk is you get the best vantage point for people watching

you can watch others and learn to act:) you also get to see who's being genuine and who's faking because you have advantage of distance and non-involvement.

social information- and that is useful stuff you can
