The best thing you could give her is a letter that really explains how thankful you are. Doctors like her do what they do because they really want to help people they don't do it for money or anything else. They get a wonderful feeling every time they help someone so if you write her a letter telling her what a wonderful person you think she is that will be the best thanks you could give her. You also might want to write a letter or make a call to the American Medical Journal and tell your story.

I would just send or give her a special thank you card and a big hug. Emily Matthews writes beautiful verses. Doctors sometimes are not allowed to take gifts from patients nor do they want them. If she works for a hospital you could call the hospital and ask who her head doctor "boss" is and commend her but please don't mention she gave you her cell #. It was super of her but rules may prohibit that, recommend her to all your friends, write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about how she helped you get over the lupus. She DOES NOT want a gift. JUst knowing she helped you b sending her a thank you card and if possible giving her a big hug and thank you- if you are married orhave family members they should thank her too. are all she wants. The other thing commending her to a superior doctor or her boss if she has one could get her a raise or promotio or at least make her job more secure,You shouldn't get personal with your doctor usually. This may be an exception as I have never heard of a doctor giving a patient her cell #. She really CARED! If you really want to give her a presentit should be something you make yourself, Or if not artistic order her a cake from like Giant food store bakery. hey put whatever you want to say on it. I believe Giant food stores are nationwide. I' chose a yellow cake with vanila icing. She may not like chocolate and words show up better on white. Or instead of buying her a card make her one or write her a thank you letter. Give the letter/gift to her secretary. Just thought of a better idea- I mean a GREAT one- ask her what her favorite charity is and make a donation to them-even a small one. I believe LUPUS itself has a charity foundation. So make a donation to them and let them know it is because of her!

Sometimes they are not allowed to accept gifts because of insurance reasons. Medicare for example, when I was working in group homes I was not allowed to receive anything from the clients, even if they were throwing it out. If somebody who is suing them for whatever reason could say this was a form of 'repayment' and go after the personal finances of the doctor as well as the insurance company.
The best thing to do would be to write a thank you letter or a card, send her some pictures or something she could keep in her office at her desk for inspiration.

Well, there are a few different ways you can go depending on how close you are with your doctor. If you aren't so close or don't want it to be too personal you could go with a really nice basket arrangement of some sort. If you want something more personal, how about a charm with the hypocratic oath on it or the medical symbols, or even something like #1 doctor. That is something your doc could wear on a daily basis.

I would say something that she would really like like a spa day or something she said she always wanted.
but I would get her something that money can't buy, something that she would know you put a lot of time thinking about it and possibly making it. The best gifts are simple and priceless and theres nothing anyone likes more than having something that makes them certain that their time caring for you was well spent and that you have given the time back that they spent on you all that time ago in the form of a small, caring gift.

your probably right anything she may want she could buy for herself. so have you maybe thought about some kind of homemade gift? even if its just cookies or jam or something like that. with a nice little thank you card would be nice. you would be surprised how much she would like that, im sure her life is so busy she doesnt have much time to do much cooking herself.

My daddy used to buy them all the time when he coached baseball and needed trophys done for the kids. Good Luck!
