We do not know... Evolution has the word, and our evolution will be going on as long as we exist, in one form or another.

We have evolved into what we are now, due to evolutionary reasons. Humans are social beings. We have a complex social organization which is product of our relationship toward the outer world. Males and females have split roles, which has changed their physical and mental characteristics in relationship one to another. These roles may change in further evolution, through natural or genetic selection.

While the unconditional love females give to their babies, is essential to the survival of the baby, the conditional male love is important for the maturing of the child toward the outer world... and thus toward being able to create own family... the way of nature. This is dangerous playground for changing the constellation in some abrupt manner.

Females have a higher emotional and social intelligence. They are more resistant, they carry the baby which brings along certain psychological-chemical-physical differences, etc. Males have a higher spacial intelligence, they are more explosive, etc. As One, they are perfectly adapted to the challenges which brought them to this evolutionary stage.

Nature has shown us that everything is possible. Borelia, hiena, spider, praying mantis, snails, lizards and reptiles, etc. are lifeforms we must take into consideration (before we deplete them from our site). Matriarchy as our legacy, and Alpha female wolf taking over the group in some critical life-death stress situations, are examples we can identify with.

In our nature, women chose the best genetic material available, which is subdue to genetic mutations, allowing a wider choice, and putting us on top of the evolution of life. Thus, we may argue who actually rules. We can say that, with a greater man, a woman rules over another woman, thus male ruling is merely apparent, superficial and rhetoric - insignificant from the evolutionary point of view and perhaps even dangerously regressive to the survival of mankind, with the altered natural selection. Men are given this ruling notion, which seems to be their predestination goal; their thrive. Men are created and built to protect and love women, and are expendable... When women go into war ( :)) ), even more male babies are born (rather than the 100:106). (Only some primates have a way to solve tension within the group :)) )

Perhaps due to the fact that in today's society the selection is based upon economic and/political wealth, the nature's genetic selection has been sided, which might be the cause why humans are downward in intelligence, genetic health, etc... A simplified but great illustration of this is what happened to the Egyptian rulers and French aristocrats. Even though men held the power, women chose... :D

Our society is becoming more complex. Hunting and using physical force to combat the dangers, are becoming obsolete. Women are slowly taking over the favorite toy of men: politics.

Tomorrow we will start playing with genetic engineering. We will play with the x and y chromosomes. We even might be able to go into any direction we chose (or women chose if they get hold of such institutions :D ), according to, lets say for example, the conditions on Saturn's satellite Europe... We might think that we are closer to becoming Gods, but nature is much wiser...

Perhaps men should reign and women rule, just as it has probably been so far :D

So, my answer is: will women not? I would let nature decide.

No....technically men run the world now...but they give us the same rights as other men. I think...it doesnt matter who runs the world...as long as they have a good head on their shoulder...if its a man who runs the world in the future...then it better be because hes wise..not because hes a man. If its a woman who runs the world in the future.. it better be because she wise also....not because men wanted her to shut up and stop protesting " for her rights to also run the world." But sometimes, we women do get very emotional and stressed easily...and we tend too react under stress and make decisions under stress....i hope that if there is to be women in the future ruling the world....that she knows how to keep her emotions and stress under control. if she cant, it might be ideal that someone be there to help. like not exactly an advisor because they dont have the power to make choices...but someone who is the help also have the power to make the choices...they have to agree i guess.

We've got our roles all mixed up.
Cooking is supposed to be a woman's domain. Yet the world's great chefs are men.
Sewing and fashion design are supposed to be feminine. Yet the world's great fashion designers and tailors are men.
A love for music is often considered "girlish". Yet the world's great musicians and composers are men.

Politics and Government are supposed to be a man's preserve. Yet the world's great rulers ahave been women. Mary Queen of Scots, Elizabeth 1, Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher, Sirimavo Bandaranaike, etc.

Yes, women have ruled the world, and they are probably better at it than men. Any HONEST married man will admit that.

Women these days are really competitive. Yes, I know that in the future more women will take higher positions not only in big corporations but also in the political arena. As I have observed more and more women are elected as prime ministers and presidents, managing successful corporations and excelling in other areas like sports where men used to rule. But now, it seems that women are no longer in the shadow of man but racing side by side if not ahead of men.

Women will never rule the world due to a society dominated by patriarchy, no matter what we do we can never win. Things may get better but men will always come first and rule the world. Britain has never had a female priminister except Margaret Thatcher, and is she really female? I doubt it! So, unless us women unite as one throughout the entire country, and overthrow male dominance, yes! Men will always rule the world!!!!

Women and Robots will.
IN a future time, the children will come together to create a giant cyborg. This may well take the shape of the archetypal mother. A woman. So, yes.

Many answers here say that women rule now. One says "We just don't get any credit for it!" That's because the rule is covert and manipulative, not overt and confronting, which is why feminism focusses on measuring power and equality in overt dimensions. That way, they can claim they're only looking for "equality", take HALF of men's power, and hide and retain ALL of their manipulative advantages.
___But the more feminized nations of the world are in decline, and won't be around, as world leaders, for long. Another 50 years, maybe a century. Cause and effect?

After all the damage women have caused over the last 60 years? Women are too incompetent to rule anything.
