well, when i was at camp mapledell (its a boyscout camp) my scout leader decided to tell us a scary story about deformed ,mutilated people who kidnap people and slaughter them to their very fibers. now being frightened out of my pants i tried to get rid of the thoughts that were coming into my head (i can imagine things very graphicly).so i tried to get the to get the images out of head by replacing them with peaceful images.well that started to fail and decided to make more peaceful images come in to my head at the speed of light.i dont know what happend after that but i have a strange feeling emptyness in the back of my head. ever since then I havent been acting myself,i cant recall memories anymore,i studder and have strange akward pauses when i speak to anyone(which has been causing me many problems since before campmapledell i used to be a chatterbox on wheels) and i havent been my calm cool collective self.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fears and phobias can certainly hurt one's social life. If one is afraid to do everything his or her peers are doing, he or she will not be very popular. This would change one's personality, and make him or her inaccessible to others.
I am distressed to learn that trying to replace bad images with good ones, did not work out for you. I was thinking of trying to do that same thing for myself. Right now, I am fearful of doing so--because of what you have written.
I think that you should really see a doctor. He or she can diagnose you, and see if any type of medication or therapy is in order. You cannot keep going on the way you are right now, so I would try to get all the help that there is to be better.

The reason that you are changing is due to the fact that the story may have awakened a deeper fear in you as it does in other human beings, such as how i taught my little brother what the dark was as a baby and he is now afraid of the very mention of it. Ask your mother if she ever accidently exposed you to anything in your childhood that my have reawakened this fear and if you cannot shake the feeling, conquer your fear by watching the Hills Have Eyes

It sounds more like a form of paranoia or A.D.D. - You live inside your mind. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can cause a series of problems, but I have never seen it brought on by a camp story. I am not implying that it is not possible. I think I would see a therapist.

I hate to say this, because chances are, no one on here is going to agree with me, and I might get in trouble, but marijuana is a good cure for such troubles. I was something of a paranoid schizophrenic after a bad confrontation with some unexplainable beings when I was 5, and I cured it with what Willie Nelson describes as the universal medicine.
Good luck.

1st of all, you're not alone in having some wierd personality problem.I'm guessing it's post-traumatic stress disorder.I start feeling it when I was 12 and got real paranoid smoking pot. That little panic struck something in me that I had kept inside.I don't know you,so I can't tell you what is really causing you to feel this way.It may have been from repressing that dark feeling. It may have brought something up.I strongly suggest seeing a therapist. It has really helped me when I was younger.

Stress, or better known as distress can effect people for life if they are emotionally fragile. The government calls it post traumatic stress disorder. Generically put, panic disorder from phobias and fears.

I think that maybe if this is creating social problems for you, it would be best to speak with a therapist. You can work together to try to overcome this so that you can return to being your regular self.

Try to find humor in daily life------
LAUGHTER is a great medicine.
Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Sing like nobody's listening.
Live like it's Heaven on Earth.
