Besides debating Bob Loblaw?

I think the fact that you lose the puck and INSTANTLY the objective for your team changes from offense to defense.

This transition is like no other sport.

Baseball and football you may have to wait an interminable time before you go from offense to defense. Basketball players can't lose the Ball too easily, they have to make a pretty big mistake.

In these other sports, you can survive with one dimensional players much better than you can in Hockey too.

The speed part is great too. In baseball the pitcher has to throw the ball, the batter has to hit the ball, the ball might or might not be fair, then they have to field it...you get the idea. (Worse yet how many times is the game on the line, 3-2 count on the batter, and he fouls off the next 10 pitches?)

Hockey -- someone gets a breakaway and INSTANTLY the result is in --- big save or Goal.

For me a game is never more electric than when I'm watching a goaltender having a stellar night. Comes from growing up watching Hasek play for the Sabres, I guess, but there's just something about watching a goalie effortlessly do the seemingly impossible that gets me. I also love watching the stickwork that happens on great plays, like Drew Stafford's second goal in the game Wednesday night. Spectacular!

P.S. Fights are fun, too--except the part where Peters sucks and always loses!

Everything!!! The skill, the speed, the power, the sound of the puck hitting the pipes, the wrap-around, the deke, the crunch of players against the boards, the broken "twig", the after-check glass wobble, "the biscuit", the water bottle goal, the over-enthusiastic linesman, "a new piece of lumber", the bench celebration, the arena organ player, being a fan at a game...and most of all...the Pittsburgh Penguins...

Let's Go Pens!!!

The speed of the game, the physical play, the passion of the players, as well as the attitude of the players. NHL stars are far more humble than any other athlete. I also love slappers from the blueline going top shelf, the roar of the crowd as the goal horn sounds, a good scrap, and fantastic saves. The tic-tac-toe plays and the one-times, a good blocked shot, and a quick steal are also fun. Penalty shots and a shootout make my day.

The figths definatley but the nonstop up and down the ice action, the constant momentum shifts, the incredible dekes and speed of the young superstars, the amazing saves, the hits, you know, I love everything about the game! Hockey is so amazing!

I've played it since I learned to skate back in the early 60s - I loved the physical stuff and ripping shots into the top corner - man it sucks to get old - you can't play it but you can certainly appreciate what the young guys are doing out on the ice a heck of a lot more if you've been a player

I like the idea that it is a sport that used to have class and a strong rich history. Before the bettmen disaster, the NHL was deep with tradition. The conferences and divisions were named after prominent names. Now it is bland and just like everyother sport. Before the arenas had names that represented the team(ie the pond, the spectrum, the igloo, the Aud, Great Western Forum, etc.). Now they are named after a business that gives them the most money. It is a shame. All the rich traditions are gone or are going. :(

I love the fights and the way that they get hit on the boards. It always brings a rush of excitement to me. Haha. But yes. I just love the excitement of going to a game too.

Family Pack Nights. Free Food Days. Wearing sweaters indoors (jk). Cheering as loud as I can in the die-hard (nose-bleed) seats.
