I want to buy a printer that has a scanner built in. I'll be using it to scan mostly pictures, but I don't want to buy it just for that. I'd prefer it to be capable of receiving print jobs through a linksys wireless router, but its not extremely important. I'm willing to spend up to about $150 dollars, but if theres something lower that'd be great. Any advice you can offer would be appreciated too. Thanks!

Would it be better to buy a printer and a scanner separately?

If you buy a printer-scanner combination, if one breaks you lose the other.

Companies make so much money from the printer supplies that they often sell the printer for a very low price. Prices for printers go up as their speed in printing increases. Most printers will now do 10 ppm.

Recently you could have gotten a Samsung 2010 laser printer for free. A separate scanner could cost less than $30.

Connecting the printer to a PC and then sharing it on the network is straight forward in Windows.

Canon MP 450

You will need to purchase an adapter that allows it to be blue tooth enabled however this printer is absolutely loaded with functions, prints a great picture and is only $90.

The adapter comes at a price of around $50 and is part number BU-20

For the price of a sunit now you may as well get the all in one. You can either buy a printer for $90 and a scanner for $90 or a printer-scanner-copier combo for $90. If one part breaks down you can just replace it.

Brother makes a very good all in one machine. Fax, printer and scanner. Do not buy the low cost end of the printers. They seem cheap but the ink is very costly so get a good quality machine and the ink will be at a small cost.

I know this seems nutty but that is the way it is.

I am sure there ar others out there that are good.

Canon. The cheap ones are as good as the expensive ones. There are other brands but I love my Canon. They have the best retail prices for ink. I buy my ink on Ebay for a fraction of retail. Never buy ink retail but if you do check out the Canon non greedy prices.
