Everyone pretty much agreed unanimously that Forsberg gave the Predators a realistic chance at the cup. Yes he is in the later stages of his career; yes he has had injury problems in the past and got injured 7 games after being traded. That being said, he is still one of the best (some argue the very best) two way players in the game and anyone of that caliber automatically make your team (as well as other teammates) better. He's still averaging close to a point a game as a Predator, which is considered awesome, and have you seen some of the passes he has made? The one last night to Fiddler was insane, the one to Kariya a few weeks back was (as Kariya put it) "Sick". Adding to his incredible ability to dish the puck where no one else can, he grinds down low and is incredible at puck control in the offensive zone, physical both on the fore-check and the back check, and sees plays develop before anyone on the ice can react. Add to this his passion and desire when he plays, and the Predators are very dangerous in the post season indeed. He didn't leave Philly because he was unhappy with the team, he left Philly because he wants a ring, and he wants it bad. It doesn't matter that he has two already, plus gold medals and world championships. When it comes to players like that, there's always a hunger for more. He didn't play hurt a week ago, when they could have really used him in the home and home against Detroit but in hind sight that was a very wise move. They are still ahead of Detroit (so they didn't lose anything by him being out) and he is completely healthy. If it comes to it though, he'd play hurt in the playoffs, and Forsberg at 85% is better than 95% of the league at 100%. It takes more to win a Stanley Cup than one player - but in terms of adding a player to give you greater odds, the Predators did that hands down.

Karia has been there also. I think that Foresberg might be different on another team. Look at Scott Walker. Unfortunately we traded him, and he is having a great year with the Hurricanes. The fans miss him for sure. As for your question, I don't think it will be just him, the whole team has to want it. I watched a couple of games last night and the hits are getting much much harder. But, Tis the season.

Forsberg can't single-handedly win a cup for the Preds, but his is a piece of the puzzle. He's a crafty center who's a wizard with his passes, and he's not afraid to stand up for his teammates. He's got a passion for the game and he will get physical. I think if the coaching staff can get the young D in shape and put that animal Tootoo on a leash, they'll make a good run to the finals.

in basic terms time will tell what is going to ensue to the Predators. they'd leave interior the night like the Baltimore Colts. the city of Nashville ought to then sue Mr. Balsille yet that does no longer deliver the team back. The league and the Leafs ought to huff and puff approximately territorial rights, approving a pass, etc., yet that would possibly no longer mean squat in a court of regulation as a results of anti-have confidence legislations on the two factors of the border. on the different hand, possibly Balsille might only supply up on determining to purchase an NHL team or set his factors of interest on yet another team-no person is familiar with what is going to ensue until eventually it happens.

I think even if the Preds were to go to the finals, the most they will get out of him is 10 games. He is broken down and seems to not want to play through pain anymore and we all know how the play-offs get more physical so this was IMO a bad deal for the Preds. Not saying they don't have a chance, just saying I would be SHOCKED if Forsberg were one of the main reasons.

The thing the Preds REALLY need to do is STOP taking SO MANY STUPID PENALTIES. Their young d-men take way too many. Forsberg will help but they need to get Sullivan and Nichol back on the ice and Vokoun has to be terrific not just great. They really need to start blocking shots more (as a team) too. Legwand needs to step up his game as well.
LETS GO PREDS. I have been a fan since BEFORE they had any players signed ... before they drafted anyone ... PREDATORS!!!!!

I really hope so. Because I think that after they win the Cup, Forsberg will retire and become an assisstant coach on the Swedish national team.

No, Forsberg is overrated. Kariya is a has been, vokoun doesnt handle pressure well and barry trotz is a neckless oompaloompa.
They are a good team but wont make it. The cup doesnt belong to hillbillies. move them from nashville to winnipeg or hartford. someplace that DESERVES hockey.

Nope, his best days are behind him. One heavy hit and he'll be back on the sidelines. Preds got screwed on that trade. Worst trade all year. Would you buy used, treadless tires?
