The best bait is shad. But not just any shad, they have to be the same size as what is in the streams and lakes right now. They can even be frozen. I put two on a hook. Water temp is important too. But my Father in law is in bed and I can't call him right now. But we would get out about 9:00 AM and start here in SE Ohio but we waited till a little later in April to start fishing . We plan to get out in the next couple days to see what we can get cause of a mild winter and some very warm days here lately. The shad was the thing though.Wrong size and we drew a blank,so buy a few different sizes to be sure

LOL, e-mail me if ya find out, I've hit them on "Sand worms", "Eel's", and umbrella rigs with wire line and surgical tubing, tides and times were all different, it's a very careful fish, and won't hit just anything like a blue fish, stripper's are picky, and it has to look just like what they are feeding on at that time of year, beautiful powerful fish, sometimes I'll keep one but, only if I'm sure I'll eat it, otherwise they go back in the water gently.
