I am spoken for, but my hus is a terrible gift giver and would never get me one. The only jewelry he has bought for me has been VERY cheap or BIG and gawdy.

I'm Irish and I bought my own. It's a right-hand ring. Just be sure you don't buy a wedding ring.

Not that I'm aware of. I don't know where on earth this thing about it being given to someone or wearing it one way means something came from. It's just a ring, and a pretty one at that.

Of cousrse it is ok to buy your own, just make sure you wear it on your right hand with the heart out, indicating you are 'unspoken for'.

If you want a ring then buy one. I wouldn't care what others thought about this. (unless they were going to buy me one)
