I say it a lot. But I say it for two different reasons.
I say it when I don't know if my answer will be helpful but I hope they find their answer.
I also say it when it is instructional as in food or beauty where you would be following exact instructions and I hope they have a good outcome.
I wouldn't say it in a question like this.

I sometimes say good luck after answering a dating question because I hope they have a good time and luck can be a big part of that. I'm ashamed to admit how sensitive my love life has been to weather conditions, songs on the radio, proximity to photogenic plants and other chance factors.

the way this thing is set up you can go back and vote for your own answer so if you leave a tag on it like good luck you know which answer you did and therefore can vote for yourself, that is not the only tag that is used the more you use this site the more you will notice, good luck

it's a polite thing to say and do why would you wish some one good luck
if your trying to find the answer and were not sure we wrote what you were looking for it's like
wishing you the best to find your answer good luck in the future some people just like being polite and they hope others the best in finding what they are looking for

The young man from the WWE always says "good luck" at the end of his answers. I think it makes it easier to find his own answers when the voting occurs.

Coz sometimes if they need help doing it then were wishing them luck when they go to do it again.
while some people just say it for the sake of it. theres nottin wrong with being polite though.

i do depending on the question if someone is looking for an opinion to make a decision i say good luck, i guess i'm just trying to be nice

I do sometime because I'm trying to give the best advice I can give but I know that ultimatly the person asking for advice is the only one who can decide what to do in their situation so I wish them luck with it and hope they do the right thing. And I don't think its stupid I think its curtious!
