I posted a question on before wondering if anyone might know how they got my number. Wasn't a big deal at the time because they "removed" my number.

Amazing how things just resurface. They called again. First he tried telling me he didn't. I told him, "You left a message!" He pulled back up and said, "Well, I guess if you ask me to remove your number, I have to." I told him, "I'm not asking, I demanding that my number be removed." I even gave them her phone number, which they already had!

Well, he then proceeded to tell me that he couldn't remove my number since it was "her file" she'd have to call and do it. Well, by that example, that means anyone can use your phone # and you have no say to remove it - even though they didn't have permission in the first place.

Anyway, short of actually involving my atty - how do I get my number removed?

antmanbees - while it's a good idea, he'd still find out the number since we have a daughter. I don't see this one as a viable option, but thank you. If I didn't have her, I probably would do this. :)

Next time they call tell them that you are recording the conversation. hat you demand that your number be removed as the person they are looking for does not reside with you. If they fail to remove your number and contine to harass you, your attorney has been instructed to prosocute them to the fullest extent of the law.

Additionally, send them a certified, return reciept letter stating the same thing.

I'm guessing it's a collection agency? I had one calling me about someone I never heard of. I asked for a fax # to fax them a cease and desist order from the Attn generals office . Never heard from them again

I would simply hang up the phone every time they called.
They are calling about an EX.
EX is EX isn't it?

Just change your number and don't tell the ex.This is easier and cheaper than involving atty.It may seem unfair for you to have to change it,but do it any way.
