This was China's first historic dynasty. The earlier Hsia was mythical. The Shang dynasty began in 1766 B.C. and coincided with the introduction of the Bronze Age in China. It was famous for its bronze vessels like ice buckets and for its bronze weapons. At its height its capital was Anyang. The earliest Chinese writing begins at this time. This was based on about 3,000 symbols on pieces of bone and on turtle shells. The early Chinese consulted these "oracle bones" for advice from their ancesters. Shang society was headed by a priest-king and had two classes of people- commoners and nobles. The Shang dynasty ended about 1045 B.C, I hope this has been a help to you.
