I find it intereresting that you have a problem with fruit flies in your garbage disposal. When you chop something up in the disposal, do you let the water run long enough to rinse all the matter down the drain? Try running the water a bit longer. Some veggie/fruit matter apparently is left behind because the little beasties remain present.

Once a week a use a small long handled brush from Walmart kitchen gadget department to clean out the disposal. Squirt a bit of dish soap down there and with the hot water running, disposal is turned off, scrub all inside areas. You would be amazed how much veggie matter and grease and stuff hangs right under the rubber sleeve in the disposal. All that rotting stuff can cause smells and attract more fruit flies. Rinse again and all should smell much better.

Try that procedure and hopefully the flies will depart.
