Do you always assume a smith (blacksmith, coppersmith, silversmith, knifesmith etc) is male?

My brain automaticly assumes everybody whos gender is undefined to be male on the internet.

I guess just what everyone was used to. Just like it used to be man-kind.

Jobs that may have been traditionally male are still associated with men.

Remember that old riddle about the young man brought to the hospital for an emergency surgery and the doctor could operate because "it's my son"...but the doctor was not the young man's father. The riddle worked because no one would have guessed it was his mother. (Yes it is old and I paraphrased the riddle....just to give the idea)

I suppose eventually we won't assume the sex of anyone.
