I like self checkout, It's faster for me, but my parents hate it because they just can't grasp the concept...
And also, I don't see what this has to do with society and culture.

I choose the cashier.
The only time I use the self checkout is when I only have 1-2 items, and they always happen to be the items that has the screen telling me to find a store employee for assistance.
I go there trying to save time, and end up wasting more than if I would have just stood in line.

I think its okay and i like how it is faster then standing in the normal checkout lanes but sometimes its kind of annoying when there is someone ahead of you who uses it for the first time and takes like ten minutes just to purchase a can of soup or something..

I prefer the self checkout lanes because it's faster and because not all cashiers are so *jubilant.

It`s ok for a few items that already have the barcodes attached, but I don`t like to use them if I have fresh fruit or vegetables to scan or when I`m using coupons, it can be a little confusing. I guess if used often, one gets the hang of it and can do it accurately and quickly. For a big order, I prefer to let the cashier do their job.

i really dont like self checkouts sometimes because i always get stuck behind someone with a cart full of items and dont really know what they are doing. I usually try to use it if i have one or two items...not twenty.

Well I look at it this way , when the store starts paying me then I shop there and work for it too ! Otherwise no I would prefer to be checked out by someone who is getting paid to do so .

If I have one or two items, sure. But not when I have a cart full of stuff. Then I let the cashier do it.

i like them and my debit card .. it sure beats waiting for some ancient old grandma fumbling around trying to write a check that then needs approval and waiting 15 minuets ...
