An old wive's tale I have come to believe is that a girl stops growing once she has had her first period. This was true for myself and all of my female friends.

do u mean that when you start your period for that week do u stop growing or when you start your first time u quit growing completely. just cause you start puberty it doesnt mean u will quit growing
