The civil war began due to many arising conflicts. The main one, altough it can be argued, was the issue of slavery. The North did not approve of it and had the idea of all people being equal. They did not tolerate the use of abusing people for land and this conflict slowly rose. This was a large issue, however, only due to when the conflict arose of allowing slavery in the new Western Territories. This helped break out the war. Both sides were also very diverese. The north was economical with large industries and had more money. They were advancing due to the South who was slow, but still had money due to the large cotton sales.

Conflicts betweent he two include the Kansas-Nebraska act, where both sides fought over this territory. The North and the South both came in attempting to gain control, and it let to a bloody brawl. There was also the North attempting to put heavy taxes on cotton, which deeply upset the South thinking they had no say in the political world.

Hope this helps a little :)

It was actually not much about slavery at all. They both cared about it, but it wasn't anything close to the main reason for the war. It was mostly because the South thought they were different enough to form their own confederacy, which is where we get the nickname "Secesh".

As you can see by the answers (and denials), both the secession of the slave states and slavery were reasons for starting the supression of the Rebellion, and finishing the War for Abolition.

It started because of State's rights. The south wanted to suceed the Union to have control over its laws. The beginning had nothing to do with slavery. Lincoln threw in the emancipation proclamation to cripple the south later in the war.

Now go do your own homework.
