potential to kinetic
because it was placed at a particular place for a long time (gains k.e) and then as it falls down it gains the kinetic energy

potential energy is being converted into kenetic energy. just before the egg drops there is no kenetic energy (1/2 mv^2) though there is potential energy (mgh). as the egg gains velocity (v) kenetic energy increases exponentially. at the same time the distance from the egg to the ground (h) is decreasing and with it potential energy is decreasing. at the moment when the egg impacts the ground the energy is totally kenetic with no potential. hope this helps

Potential to kinetic.

When the egg is elevated but not moving it has potential energy. When it drops, it has kinetic energy = to 1/2mv^2
